HPMS Graphite expandable graphite is manufactured from natural crystalline graphite flake through an intercalation chemical process. The expandable graphite is low in density and halogen-free.
The expansion temperature starts at 150 to 220 °C, and the expansion volume can be as high as 350 times its original volume. Typical applications include lubricants, graphite foil manufacturing, bipolar plates in fuel cell applications, fire retardant additive in plastics, and fire retardant foams for insulation.
